Growing up and older, by George Hinds, is a journal as recalled late in life and a sketch book written while growing up. The journal touches on his early background, his active service in World War II, travel and work in the U.S., Sweden, France, Switzserland, Italy, and Indonesia. The sketches, which number over 200, were the result of a grant from The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. Over twenty of the sketches are in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
