This devotional is a tool to help you build your own hope. To receive hope you will have to work. You may have to change your thinking. You have to be willing to work at opening this gift. You have to work at keeping it fresh. I can tell you that it is worth the work and the cost. Once you possess it, you will be able to give it to others. We cannot live well or long without hope. The definition of hope I am using is the joyful confident, anticipation and expectation of good. His good may not be the thing hoped for; God's ways are higher than ours, and His plan is bigger than ours. In chapter fifteen of Paul's letter to the Romans, he teaches that the God we serve is a God of hope. Hope is not a wish; it is stronger and longer lasting than a wish. Hope is active; it is looking and seeking. Waiting with hope takes focus and work, and often time. Hope involves a mental lifestyle and perception. It is a conscious choice as well as a heart or subconscious choice.
