a nice resource

I didn't love this text, but there is a lot of good information in it. Much like any other text, you have to pick and choose which methods work for you and your students. I thought the section on selecting groups was a good baseline, but not realistic for the group of students I work with.

Provides the basics of group counseling

If you know brief counseling, this book lends itself to using those skills in a group setting. Presents potential pitfalls and their solutions as well as input from experienced school counselors.

great resource!

I had to purchase this textbook for a class and I must say, out of the hundreds of dollars spent for my MEd program in school counseling, this text is one of the few that will be on my shelf as a well used resource. It is informative and helpful, a great guide to develop useful support groups for all students K - 12.
