Grieving Amaryllis: Mirrors and Shadows

Ravenna took one last glance at her final resting place. The crowd started to throw violet, deep belladonna, begonia, and columbine flowers in her direction, with whispers of prayers all around from the Shadow Bishops who were encircling the surrounding arena. Time stopped, and the world was in a blur, voices were muffled, and her senses went numb. She couldn't feel anything at all; even the touch of the cold wind disappeared. "Is this how waiting for the soul to leave the body feels?" She wondered, her heart beating loudly in her ears.

The axe finally touched the ground, slashing a clean cut through the nape of her neck and separating her head from her body. Deep vermilion blood was splattered around and soaked a few of the flowers that filled the arena.

The world then fell silent,
The world then went deafly quiet.

Something happened,
Something beautiful,
Something extraordinary.

Everything stopped.
