Gloria's voice speaks for the voices of those killed

These poems are searing, beautifully expressive. All who love poetry will want to have this book. The author addresses persons she imagines as real persons whose breath she recreates, into whose corpses and dismembered parts she breaths life. Forensic teams can take pieces of bone and identify to whom, to which body they belong. Gloria Mindock's poems are bones like the bone shards that can reveal the person through DNA. Her poems are the DNA that imaginatively recreates dead persons who become universal representations of the human disasters of war. So relevant for our times. Perhaps she is better compared to European poets like Szymborska, Nelly Sachs, or the Russian writers who commemorated their dead comrades and family members during the Stalinist years.
