For me, soul food is good if it's prepared the proper way. And for others, having a soul food meal might bring comfort as they revisit the past in their memories. Like momma's macaroni and cheese, grandma's fried chicken and auntie's collard greens. Those foods bring it all back and for some folks, it's a good feeling if it's done in a positive manner and especially if they're doing the cooking It's unfortunate, but a lot of the good southern soul food cooks didn't pass down their secret recipes to the next generation. If you didn't hang out in the kitchen, you may have missed out on some im-portant things. But all is not lost. I wrote this small cookbook for those who love soul food and want to cook it. I kept this book very simple and didn't put a lot of complicated recipes in here. Most of the recipes in this book are from my Sumtin' Bout Dat Soulfood Cook-book, But I added more recipes like chitterlings, pig's feets, black-eyed peas and some other dishes. I wanted to focus on certain foods that someone might see on a real southern African-American's table from time to time.
