Gregory of Tours: Life of the Fathers

By Edward James

Book Overview

Life of the Fathers explores the lives of twenty saints, mostly clerics who belonged to Gregory's own family or to the dioceses of Clermont and Tours. These bishops, abbots, hermits--and one anchoress--present a cross section of the Gallic church, a counterpart to the secular society described in the History of the Franks.
