This book details the evolution of the greeting card industry starting with Christmas cards, then Valentines. Did you know the greeting card flourished during the Great Depression (1930s) - people sent greeting cards instead of pricer gifts! It's interesting to see early 20th century cards and how design evolved into the early 1990s. Amazing how some designs from the '60s - 70s still hold up as great art. Many "Louie Award" winning designs including captions and other credits. While written in 1993, it's still great background if you are interested in writing or designing for this market.
