Marko Sunfield and other Pomeroy Company Kids, or "PKs," are fully-human products of synthetic biology. Born without parents and incubated in artificial uteri, they're genetically designed to be resilient, and they're raised in large, institutional environments called New Schools that are situated around the world. At the end of his senior year, Marko will receive his diploma and join the ranks of other New School graduates-or "Peers," a goal he and his friends have been anticipating eagerly.
