The scientific name for the Greek Tortoise is Testudo graeca. It is a species of tortoise that is indigenous to the Mediterranean area, which includes sections of the Middle East, Southern Europe, and North Africa. This species is prized for its unusual shell patterns, which range widely in hue and pattern from dark green and black to golden brown, sometimes with minute yellow dots that give each one a unique appearance. Greek tortoises are manageable pets for individuals with limited space since they are tiny in comparison to other tortoise species, often growing to adult lengths of 5 to 8 inches (about 13 to 20 cm).
