This is an excellent rendition of the history of baseball withemphasis on the post 1903 period. The first World Series wasplayed in Boston in 1903. The work depicts full black and whiterenditions of the old cities at the turn of the century.The Yankees nearly won the 1904 pennant. In 1910, there was ahighly contested batting race. Early pitching duals thrilledcrowds; such as the exchanges between Koufax and Marichal.There was great action in the 1918 World Series. Mays performedspectacularly in center field. Mickey Mantle had an enviablehome run record . Schmidt held the 3rd consecutive home runtitle. The book is a spectacular work for any baseball enthusiast. It is highly recommended for purchase by a wideconstituency of teens, young adults, middle age and elderlycitizens who might actually remember some of the earlierhistory of baseball in this country.
