Creative Beginning Stamping Book

***** This book is a great beginners book, chock full of creative approaches to stamping. It covers not just the basics of rubber stamping, but stamping with found objects and the basics of carving your own stamps. Everything is at a beginner level, which was what I was looking for. There were lots and lots of creative ideas that seemed unusual and that I've not seen elsewhere, like stamping on sheets of labels, making your own stamped ribbon, and making stamped paper jewelry. The book is written by a professional artist, and has an emphasis on simple carved stamps---carved in erasers, root vegetables, sponges, etc. It also covers inks, papers, mounting stamps, embossing, double embossing, stamping with found objects, masking, layering, polymer clay stamping, stamping & stitching, small stamped books, stamping and fabric, and more. It seemed a teensy bit dates for supplies and resources since it was published in pre-Internet days (1997), but other than that, I have no criticisms of the book. Highly recommended for creative stamping beginners. *****

This Book takes you beyond the basics

This book may not be for everyone, but I loved it. The book is dedicated to using your own hand carved stamps. Most of the author's stamps are simple designs, yet she shows amazing ways to use the stamps. The book stretches your creative mind and makes you think beyond the simple cards, designs, etc. Technique for carving is shown as well as how to use the stamps. A great book for stampers who want to go beyond the limits of ready made stamps. Even if you don't feel like carving your own stamps, this book will show you new and creative ways to use rubber stamps in your projects. I highly recommend this book!
