Even better than first in series

This is Book Two in Kelly Byrd’s Far From Home fantasy series. (City of Lights was Book One.) It’s geared towards Middle Schoolers, but I believe it’s really for anybody of any age or gender who loves great adventures, and tales of friendship, family, and courage. Mary Jingo of the Shadowlands is Dorothy Gale of Kansas for the 21st century, though in fact both characters are timeless. I’m an adult and literally couldn’t put this book down once I began reading. I had to see what each new chapter would reveal, and the ending left me wanting more in the best possible way. Byrd has woven together an interesting, colorful, incredible world filled with richly diverse characters. Disclaimer: I know the author. That said, if I didn’t truly like these books, I’d not say anything about them at all. I’ve enjoyed them immensely, Book Two even more so than Book One. Now I can’t wait for the inevitable third entry in the series. Hoping the wait between books is shorter next time, but if #3 is as good as this one, it’ll be worth it however long it takes. I hope these books find a wide audience because they deserve it.
