A valuable book!

Valuable book for both AA members and others, as Nell Wing was a non-alcoholic who worked for Bill W. for many years, and became also a personal friend of Bill and Lois, closely involved with them and with the history of AA, as she became the first official AA archivist after Bill's death. She offers a unique perspective, as a non-alkie who was there through many of the early struggles of the organization, and understood the huge social impact of AA in describing persistent drunkeness as an illness, a concept that led to the pioneering work of Mrs Marty Mann in establishing the National Council on Alcoholism, and the eventual public and medical establishment acceptance of alcoholism as a disease and thus a public health issue. Readers of this book may also be interested in the biography of Mrs. Marty Mann, a human powerhouse whose work is too little known and understood in the field of recovery.
