I have large cats. Two of them are half-Maine Coon. This is plenty big enough for them to stretch out, move around, and sit straight up. You can use larger rings to make a larger swing if you like, but you will need to buy extra cord to accommodate for the size. I have wanted nice swings for my kitties forever, but all of my cats are large and active. I knew they needed something strong and sturdy enough to support their weight and size, and that would be durable enough to weather their activity. Kitties love to be up high, where they can survey their territory and pounce at will. They also love to be elevated with the people they share space with. I live in a townhouse with an open floor plan. I designed these to hang in the center of my downstairs that divides the living room and dining room/kitchen area. Suspended from 360-degree swivel hooks over one of my sofas, they command center stage. It also elevated them off of my furniture and the floor area - freeing up more space for all of us. They love these swings so much that even as they were hanging in progress, on the ladders in my studio they were sleeping, sitting and playing in them. I designed these using a heavy, 6 mm cord so that they would easily support their weight and last for years to come. I've had cats for over 20 years and this has been, by far, the best investment I've made for them. I hope your kitties enjoy them as much as mine do. I sell many designs of custom cat swings made to order from my studio. I also sell the patterns for anyone who would like to make their own.
