Grace Suzanna De la Cruz was born and raised on a ranch in White Lake New York. Her father, Rubin, was the foreman of the ranch and had been for thirty years. It was the only home she knew. She grew up loving horses and Jesus. Her love of horses was the reason she left her home to go to college to become a veterinarian, so she would be able to take care of the horses on the ranch.
She was almost sixteen years old when the ranch sold, and the new owner walked into her life. He was a tall, husky, golden haired, natural outdoorsman who loved horses, working the ranch, picking his guitar and singing out under the stars. Her prince charming in cowboy boots. She fell in love with him instantly and knew in her heart that God had created him just for her and one day he would be hers forever.
But he was Todd Collins, a famous guitarist in the world's most famous band, Hype and he was never around much. Grace had to endure years of seeing pictures of the band in tabloids and magazines surrounded by adoring women draped all over them. She forced herself to put away all the magazines that caused her heart to hurt and focused on continuing to believe that God wanted them to be together, that one day he would walk towards her and never walk away again.
Todd Collins was driving home, after being on tour for most of the year. He was tired, bone tired, but he had decided to drive on to the ranch that night instead of waiting until the next day after arriving back in the states. He was ready to be home on his ranch, with just his horses. No more traveling from place to place on a bus, no more airplanes, no more playing concerts for thousands of screaming people, just sleep and being out in the country with his horses. Nothing sounded better than that.
Hype had just completed back-to-back concert tours of The United States and Europe. It was exhausting, he was exhausted. It was time for a much-needed rest.
When he finally arrived home, ready for a deep sleep, the last thing he expected was to hear a shotgun racked at his head in the darkness of his own home. "Shooting a man with his own gun should be a crime of some sort." He said at being startled.
The real shock however was when the lights came on He was speechless to see the most stunningly gorgeous dark haired Mediterranean Goddess dressed in yoga pants and a tank top.
She gave him the "are you stupid?" look. "We weren't expecting you until tomorrow." She said matter of factly, still leaving him clueless as to how and why such a vision of loveliness would be in his home. Then the familiarity of her voice and her eyes registered.
This was Little Suzie, Rubin's daughter, the little lanky long-haired girl that lived at the ranch and was always around the stables. He hadn't seen her since she left for college several years ago. She was definitely not a gangling kid anymore; she was the most captivating woman he had ever seen He was immediately struck by the irony that he had just seen pretty women from all over the world and by far the most alluring to him was right here in his own home It made him smile, which he quickly realized she must have misinterpreted as her eyes flared with anger. Thankfully she had already put away the shotgun.
"Suzie?" he asked, still not believing his eyes.
"My name is Grace, Mr. Collins," she said stronger than intended.
Not a very good way to get him to notice you, Grace thought to herself angrily. Now he is going to think you are a crazy, scrawny girl.
Todd had undeniably "noticed," he was captivated by her presence, but he was too exhausted to do anything but apologize for any misunderstandings and bid her a goodnight so he could get some sleep. But that didn't make the images of her go away. He knew from just that brief fiery encounter with her that his mind and dreams would be forever bombarded with thoughts and the amazing imagery of Grace
