Gooper's Magic Scooper is a fictional account of how an elderly neighbor, Mrs. Whineycut, helps Thea, a struggling, single mother manage her work-time as a writer at home by helping Suzi, her eight year old daughter, train her spirited puppy, Gooper.

Suzi and Thea are thankful for Mrs. Whineycut's guidance and magical gift. Thea takes notes of Mrs. Whineycut's dog-training for writing ideas. Plus, Suzi decides to start her own journal and asks Mrs. Whineycut to join an afternoon reading-group. Mrs. Whineycut is delighted and continues to share more dog-training ideas.
