A pleasant and comfortable read

It wasnt drooling with love scenes or realtionship drama, believe it or not its more about its title. (go figure) Erikkica is down on her luck and pretty much job-less she figures since her boss tells her to take more time off to recover from a near fatal accident. She travles to and from New orleans in this book abit but the transition is smooth in how its presented. It does have some love, from family(some)and crazy fun friends. And a once cast out Gabreial from years before. He gives her the room shoulder, and love she needs.

Good!

This book was a good book. You can really feel the love flowing between Gabriel and Erikka. Better sex scenes and resolutions of the supporting characters issues would make it a great book. But all in all I would definitely reccommend it!

(RAW Rating: 3.5) - Can't keep a good woman down

Erikka Rochon, an accountant executive in New Orleans, was at the top of her game. She had a successful career, a great apartment, and a handsome boyfriend. She climbed the corporate ladder at warp speed until her world came tumbling down. Convicted of reckless endangerment and first offense driving while intoxicated, she is forced to spend time in the psychiatric ward of the local hospital. Once released, her employer forces her to take time off. With no job and no money, Erikka decides to return to her roots and visit her Aunt Darlene in Loreauville, Louisiana. She hopes the visit will give her what she needs to rise above her current situation. Erikka soon finds that when a good woman loses her way, she needs something special to chase away her blues. Can that something special be Gabriel Cormier, the son of Loreauville's most prominent family, and a man with a past more notorious than Erikka's? Gabriel Cormier is sexy, intelligent and rich. However, through his past mistakes, he has learned that money doesn't solve every problem. The owner of a growing business, Gabriel has spent years building a wall around his heart but when he meets Erikka, there is an instant attraction. For the first time in years, he is ready to take a chance at real love. Unfortunately for both of them, the past can often leave scars that don't always heal. Can Erikka and Gabriel overcome their issues and personal demons to take a chance at happiness? GOOD WOMAN BLUES is a well written romance novel with a good story line and likable characters. The author's use of several supporting characters keeps the novel flowing and very interesting. Although more passionate love scenes would have made the novel even better, Lynn Emery has written a book that will keep readers engrossed until the very end. intriguing contemporary romance

Erikka Rochon was on her way to the top of the corporate ladder as an accountant in New Orleans until the DUI. She was convicted of first offense driving while intoxicated and reckless operation of a vehicle; the part of her sentencing she hates is the sessions with psychiatrist Dr. Morrow and her rule enforcing team. Still due to her hospital roommate Terri's insight, Erikka finally bluffs a pass out of "jail". Her employer tells her to chill for a while so she takes time off visiting her Aunt Darlene in Loreauville, a home she went to as a child when she needed to escape from her own house. In spite of the loving nurturing of her Aunt, Erikka struggles with the future as she wants back up the Big Easy corporate food chain, but also worries that her depression accelerated by an empty personal life will lead her back to binging. However, everything changes when she meets Gabriel Cormier. They are attracted to one another from the start, but as love blossoms their personal demons leave both reluctant to take the next step in their relationship. GOOD WOMAN BLUES is an intriguing contemporary romance starring two nice but haunted protagonists and a mixed support cast with several quite likable while the heroine's parents are too into their own hedonistic needs. The story line is character driven as Erikka and Gabriel struggle with their destructive pasts, their loving yet shaky present, and whether the future is together or not. Lynn Emery writes a fine Bayou romance that showcases a fine couple trying to make it over their own issues. Harriet Klausner
