Wonderful bedtime book!!

My 1 year old daughter loves this book so much that she learned to turn the pages to see what happens next. She loves to be able to open the page on her own and find out how everyone says good night. She loves petting everyone before they go to bed. I highly recommend this book!!

Our bedtime book

This book, along with "Good Night Moon" has become a regular part of my 21-month-old daughter's bedtime ritual. One other reviewer mentioned the less-than-stellar rhymes, and I agree, but since it's geared toward small children, I don't worry about it. I will mention, however, that I must have a slightly different version of the book than the reviewer who mentioned the puppy rhyme. Ours says nothing about a bone, so maybe there are two versions floating around out there! Either way, it's a sweet book with soft touch-and-feel animals that my daughter loves, and she loves "tucking in" the little girl at the back of the book. The last page is saying goodnight to a child with a blanket....nice touch. We like it!

excellent book for active little reader

This book is one of only 3 our 14-month old has really enjoyed over the last 5 months. She is constantly feeling the texture of the animals and turning the pages. She does NOT enjoy just looking at the pages of books. She always wants to turn the pages or touch the pages or point, and this book is perfect.

Sam loves it!

My ten month old loves this book. He is very much into exploring textures right now and loves anything touch and feel. This book is so much more than a touch and feel. The words ryhme beautifully and I love the illustrations. It's also an excellent before bed story. Fun for everyone.

It really is the perfect bedtime book!

This book is just great for bedtime. The illustrations are soft and colorful and the text is easy-to-read, rhyming and repetitive. Each two-page spread shows an animal playing in the daytime. Then, when you fold-out the pages, you reveal the animal sleeping at night, with a large and soft textured area for children to touch and pet. The textured areas are soft, comforting and encourage sleepiness. As your little one pets each animal, the text on the page says things like "lay down your sleepy head...now it's time for bed" and so on. The last page shows a child playing in the park and when you open up the folded pages, the child can be tucked into bed under a soft felt blanket--the perfect exercise for bedtime. It's not just the illustrations that make this book wonderful--it's the value. It's only $9.95, but the book itself is very large and bulky (the spine is over an inch thick!) and so this is a great book to package up with a receiving blanket, baby pajamas or crib mobile for a baby shower. It is inexpensive, but beautifully done and feels very substantial. I have given copies to several friends with infants and toddlers.
