The place was dusty with a fine powder of dirt which blew in from the road now cutting through the once unbroken property and befouling a vista once golden with rye to the horizon - modern gas-powered vehicles speeding by, disdainful, and ignorant of its heritage; horse-drawn carriages and regard, now scarce.

Life carried on humdrumly for the inhabitants of Gonzo Town. And it was the same for Betty - single mom and struggling to make ends meet.

But when Weatherbee's film production company came to town, strange things happened - Fred Barlowe disappeared; the Gonzo Savings Bank got robbed; Doris Gallo, the Brooklyn Nights lead actress was assaulted - and Sheriff Grimsby suspected Betty to be involved somehow.
