A nightmare was easier to cope with than the reality the Vietnam War was.Shadows are more than the absence of light when you are a rescue medium. Often, shadows bring in the spirits that need my help the most. When I see a shadow, feel that trepidation and fear, I know I am being called to work.Three young veterans needed my help. I jumped in with both feet and no hesitation, but I should have looked both ways first. My sense of justice and family would be tested by what they shared with me. Everything I thought I knew about human nature, the Vietnam War and military justice would be challenged. My attitudes towards it forever altered. I needed to dig deep for the inner fortitude to work through their adversity and memories to help them help themselves. It wasn't easy, but someone had to reintroduce them to the love in their lives so they could find peace in their deaths. Someone had to wake them from the nightmare trapping them and show them the light. Good thing I carried a big flashlight.
