great way to start serious web design

CyberStudio is THE BEST web design and maintenence tool I've found (I've upgraded to 3). I manage three sites with a total of over 7,000 pages and 8,500 images. I also use it to make small quick pages and sites. It is completely compatible with the Unix, Linux, Mac, and NT- web servers that host my pages. Dreamweaver is not even close to the overall advantage to CyberStudio, who now has a groupware version. If you're serious about web design get CyberStudio.

Wonderfully helpful.

While CyberStudio 2 has been supplanted by CyberStudio 3 (and 2 renamed CyberStudio Personal) this book remains a wonderfully written and explained start to the most powerful WYSIWYG editor going.CyberStudio 3 kicks the snot out of NetObjects Fusion (with its proprietary formats) and all the other pretenders.

a good solid get started fast book

I liked the book mainly because its to the point. It's a great reference for how to's, although it doesn't cover more advanced stuff (and isn't expected to anyway). It's a great way to jump start Cyberstudio 2, and is much better to read than the software's own documentation. A definate buy-it-book

Great book & tool in a war zone of religious fervor

I have found this, as well as many of the other "Quick Start" books to be terse and effective. After in-depth analysis of both GoLive's CyberStudio and a competitor, NetObjects, I found that GoLive works best for my creative mind and rewards without fanfare time after time with its well designed tools that let me focus on my work and what I want to accomplish rather than having to focus on the tools. Brisbin's book helped me quickly get at the tools I needed and understand how they worked. NetObjects with its "in your face" tools, is good for corporate players who want a quick appearance of polish rather than the depth. However, both products have a market place. GoLive shows up for more serious aesthetics in an unobtrusive way that only a well engineered tool provides---which is something few people really experience in a life, and perhaps part of why there are so many polished but shoddy products bought by consumers every year.GoLive's offering has a maturity that is lost on the casual observer. GoLive is easy to master with Brisbin's help as the two worked for me to steadily build to the full panoply of tools. By contrast, where NetObjects dictated to me, GoLive showed up as a true assistant helping me to do what I wanted. That said, a quick way to get at and master GoLive's tools and sophisticated site management power has been -- for me at least -- this Quick Start book by Brisbin from Peach Pit Press. It's been a desirable companion for me and also handy for reference too.

great book, top software

as usual, the visual quickstart guide has proven very useful. easy-to-understand tutorials that don't bore the reader. and as for a comparison to netobjects fusion (i have used both), cyberstudio has proven to be THE web page development software for html-ignorant designers or even for serious developers who just don't have time to write code. hit their site to read the raves. every publication, web-site or user i have come across is convinced that this is the tool to use.
