There she learns the clan's leader, Lena, has traveled to Maria's home in Goldfield Forest, where Lena was welcomed by the Goldfield family, who, like Maria, are guardians of the fae. Finding the journal had been no accident. Lena needs a guardian to escort her to the Amazon to confront Bagrim, a warlock. Accompanied by his pack of dogmen, Bagrim plans to invade the rainforest to control the magical plants that cure supernatural ills. Risking her life, her family, and the future of the fae who inhabit Goldfield Forest, Lena agrees.
