Golden Oak Furniture shows more examples of American oak furniture than any other book ever printed. Over 670 color photographs, a descriptive text, and an extensive glossary of terms combine to present golden oak tables, chairs, sofas, sideboards, clocks, bedroom suites, chests, and cupboards of many varieties. They are organized by the rooms they were designed to furnish. Today, this furniture is enjoyed and collected across America. The book is an important reference which presents a huge selection of furniture types and invites comparisons by pointing out details of construction and ornamentation. It will be a highly useful guide for many years to come.
This book has helped me immensely in identifying different styles of furniture, especially nowadays, when there is such a hybrid of types.
I feel more comfortable rummaging through antique shops. However, Golden Oak does not necessarily imply American. So, I was disappointed in not finding any "Harris Lebus" (England) brand furniture in the book.
This book is a keeper and needs to be reviewed periodically to keep the different styles in one's mind. If you have not guessed, this is a picture book.
