Golden Age Halloween Postcard Guide

Golden Age Halloween Postcard Guide Over 2000 Vintage Halloween Postcard images with information (series / title) from the early 1900's (specifically 1907-1915). This book was created for one purpose; to share the brilliant early Halloween art that appeared on postcards in the early 1900s. Aside from the excellent (and hard to find) Halloween Postcard Catalog Guide by Gary and Louise Carpenter, there appears to be no mainstream information on these amazing works of art. The following collectors guide is a guide as well as a fan appreciation artbook with information about these cards. The cards I've chosen to focus on are from the early 1900s, with a large majority produced from 1907 to 1915 (based on the postmarks of thousands of cards in "Marci's Hallowe'en" postcard collection). Since this is not a complete collectors' guide to early Halloween postcards, I did not include every variation of every postcard. Some postcard artwork have up to eight or more variations: inverted, mirrored, gold or silver embossing, enlarged or decreased image size, with or without border and color or black and white. This book of over 2,000 vintage Halloween postcard images could have easily been up to 3,500+ postcards if I attempted to include every variation. Instead I chose to include only the one postcard that represents the best version of the artwork. I've also tried to include basic information on each postcard, including company, series, and a title/text/description. In future editions I would love to expand on the amount of information I can include. I would especially like to provide more information on the artists who created these amazing works of art. This book would not have been possible without the contributions of two major Halloween postcard collectors and sellers, Pamela Apkarian-Russell and Marci's Hallowe'en eBay shop. Both collectors provided all the postcards you see in this book. Pamela generously provided her entire collection to scan, which makes up the large majority of this book. I'm also looking for more contributors who might be able to provide scans of postcards missing from this book (missing postcards are listed in the Table of Contents in any series marked as "assumed incomplete"). I would also like to mention "Halloween Postcards" collectors guide (Third Edition, copyright 2009) by Gary and Louise Carpenter. Their guide is the finest Halloween postcard collectors' guide you can find, in my opinion, and includes lots of hard to find information that helped in identifying many of the postcards in this book. By creating this book, I hope more people will discover and be inspired by these brilliant works of vintage Halloween art! Happy Halloween! Eric Millen www.GrimQuiet.com
