Gold Rush Runaway - A Great Alaskan Novel for Youth!

I'm a college student in Alaska right now working on my BA in Elementary Education and I read this book recently for an assignment - I loved it! I think it's a great book for 4th to 6th graders because of the real look at life in Alaska. Students from Alaska who read this book will be able to identify with the setting and events, even though the book is set in 1898, because some things about Alaska don't change: the mosquitoes, the bears, the salmon, the short days in winter, the dog mushers, and the names of towns and rivers that may be familiar to them. Students who aren't from Alaska will enjoy this book because it's a look into the Alaskan life - something that may be very different than what they're used to. A great book for all students who enjoy a good adventure!
The Best Alaskan Novel I have read so far!
