I found this book somewhat difficult to read, but the raw element and realities of Africa makes it compelling. When one considers that it was written by a young man suffering from many of the maladies that go along with travelling and living in Africa, it makes the psychological element of his loneliness and homesickness ring true. Why would a young man travel so haplessly, without guidance? His naivete is apparent thoughout the book but there is a pleasant genuiness to it that I liked despite the grammatical shortcomings.I think Disney should buy the rights to this story while they have a chance. It could make a great film.
