"Preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words." That quote is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, but its origin is vague and its paraphrases are frequent. Yet, it does pertain to the people in this book. While you will read about priests and nuns, most of the stories involve people who are not clerics or religious. They include a police chief, an insurance agent, teachers, students and a baker, as well as a pair of dogs. The subjects range from those in their 90s to a remarkable set of twins prior to their birth. We all have similar people in our lives. However, we get so upset with the "bad" or notorious people, we forget the many good people we come into contact with on a daily basis. These people and the way they live their lives are sources of an endless series of spiritual insights and lessons.
