A compelling, tighly plotted courtroom drama. Two attorneys on opposite sides of an intriguing extortion case court a minister's daughter. When the minister and his friend, a catholic priest, are arrested for racketeering, romance gets in the way of litigation, and the case captures the imagination of the entire country.
Mr. Fortino's book, God's Mafia, has one of the most intriguing of premises I have encountered in my reading. The story is finely paced and the denoument is almost breathtaking. I could literally not put this book down. My rating would be 4.5 stars. I am anti-religious, yet I was not offended by the themes explored in this book. Well worth one's time, and it is the type of book that could change your life for the better.
