The book continues with his work career and family showing God's continued leading throughout this period. The book takes the reader through the most difficult period in Carlton's life: the death of his son, Michael.The Carney Associates portion of the book describes his work as an independent consultant until his retirement in 2000.
Since retirement Carlton has had several life-threatening medical problems. His faith was again tested with his wife's death to cancer in 2014. He became a member of a nondenominational local Christian church, involving differentactivities. He is a cancer survivor. His recent health problems limited his movementswhile providing him the time to complete this book.
