Not many believers in the west seem to speak or act as if they really consider that God is in charge of the world and directing events. This book is the diary of a being with no such inhibitions. So far as the diarist is concerned the Supreme Being is making a disastrous experiment with the human race which he hopes will be doomed to failure. Nonetheless he follows the story of humanity from its beginnings and chronicles what he thinks are the significant happenings. The result is a history written, not long after the events as are most histories, but soon after they took place (for that is the nature of a diary). The contemporary nature of each diary entry together with the diarist's point of view make this a very unusual history of the world.
