God Moments: Recognizing God's Presence in the ordinary

In 2018, when I began writing these reflections, coupling them with my photographs and sending them into cyberspace, I never expected that they would be compiled into a book. I am humbled by the reaction "the Footprints of God" has engendered. Now I have gathered my reflections into a second book. "God Moments" continues what was started in the first book, namely that our lives are filled with instances during which our Loving Creator God has made his presence known to us. The ordinary moments become extra-ordinary. Many of these reflections were written as we were isolated during the years of COVID-19, hard days for many people. A "God Moment" is when our senses are awakened to to the presence of God in the people, events, and challenges of daily living. It is in these very ordinary experiences of our daily living that we will find God. Often, it is in retrospect that we realize how a loving God has made himself known to us. We are led to give praise and gratitude for his goodness, and challenged to follow his Way. I pray that these reflections will enable you to see how God has been present to you as you go through each day, in the good as well as in the difficult moments. Know that in those moments you are being blessed by God. One of the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy is the care for our earthly home, for its sustainability and vitality. We are called to be faithful stewards of all that has been entrusted to us. My reflections continue to recognize the beauty that is all around us. Our Creator God has blessed us with so much. While we often feel there is not much we can do on a global scale to effect environmental change such as climate, water resources, extractivism, etc., it is in the little things we do each day that will protect our environment and preserve our planet for future generations. This book is not intended to be read in one sitting. Instead, each reflection offers the possibility of recalling when you have been touched by the presence of our God. May it lead you to discover or rediscover you own "God Moments.
