Will Browning was raised as a Christian in the Baptist tradition. Born in 1965, he was always a regular in his local church, sometimes a willing participant-sometimes needing a little persuasion. But by the age of nine, Will's belief started to falter. His preteen years were a whirlwind of lostness than not even prayers or revivals could fix. To make matters worse, his parents' divorce shook the foundations of his life.

Although Will's parents remarried within a few years, he struggled to make sense of the tumultuous changes happening within him. Until, finally, in the summer of 1976, God intervened. Moving in Will's heart, God warned him that his chances to turn back to truth, goodness, and life were drawing short. During a powerful series of revival services, his sister got saved. Then his cousin. Will's own fear of hell became overwhelming-even though he didn't care if he went to heaven, he didn't want to spend eternity in punishment.
