Encouraging for the preteen/ teen girl

The content of this magazine is excellent. I am hoping my 12 year old will enjoy it. We purchased it for a Christmas gift and will find out soon if she likes it. She has read all the other preteen books by Stephanie Perry Moore, so I'm trusting she will like the magazine.

An enjoyable read

Reviewed by Tabytha Joy (age 15) for Reader Views (7/07) "God Can Work It Out" is a book about a young, teenage girl who goes through life not believing in God, but eventually starts believing, when she realizes that praying is making things better. But just when she started to believe in God, so many doubts kept popping up and made it so hard to believe in God. This book teaches you that God does answer prayers. But he answers when he knows it's the best time to. "God Can Work It Out" explains that God will answer you in a way in which you will understand if you pay attention to the signs around you. God loves everyone. And he will work in your life if you accept him. We are all children of God. If you accept God in your life, he will help you through all the troubles that may come your way. I really enjoyed reading this book because the author chose categories which apply to EVERYONE. Everyone has lived through stress and hard moments. It comes as a part of life. But God can work it out. The author created this book in a way that can really catch a person's attention and keep them wanting to learn more. I would recommend this book for anyone that does not believe in God. The reason I say this is because this book can take many people to God. "God Can Work It Out" has everything you would need to lead someone to God and make them understand that God is real. This book can keep those who do believe in God, loving and worshiping him as they should be.

Teens will love this

Faith Thomas is a fictional eighth-grader whose life forms the basis for this series. Her father is a Christian musician, but Faith is struggling to decide her own value system. While her parents argue and disagree, Faith attempts to be the peacemaker in the home, while also juggling priorities like excelling as a cheerleader and finding authentic friendships amid the superficial and insincere world of adolescents. Author Stephanie Perry Moore demonstrates a great understanding of how a teen feels and acts, making it easy for the reader to identify with Faith amid these difficulties. The reader can explore her own questions about religion and spirituality and realize her own discoveries about meaningful friendships. Increasingly popular, the novelzine format includes great visuals (including bio info on the teen model who plays the role of Faith) monthly calendars, quotations, Bible verses, student blogs, and prayers. This mix of ingredients helps young readers stay interested, or move easily from topic to topic amid the diversity of content. The target audience--teen and preteen girls--will easily relate to Faith and her school, family, and personal life. Along the way, the pathway to peace with God is given a clear and simple explanation. Despite trials and problems, Faith does discover the reality of God by the end of the novelzine: this outcome seems natural and unforced. I found a few minor typos here and there (Valentine's Day is listed as Feb. 9th on one calendar, page 23), but overall this novelzine reads well for its target audience. A final page lists "Cool Books 2 Read," and I found myself wanting to read them all! Armchair Interviews says: Good for your young adult girl readers.
