God 2.0

Someone leaves an anonymous envelope on John Meagher's porch that contains a golden disc labeled GOD 2.0. When he boots it up, the GOD 2.0 program takes control of his computer and then takes control of his life. The program enables Meagher to receive the prayers of people in his community, and he soon realizes that he is expected to answer their prayers as well.

Despite his misgivings, Meagher answers several of his neighbors' prayers, with decidedly mixed results. Eventually, he finds himself dealing with a young man named Samuel Piste, who is enraged by Meagher's attempts to reach out to him. Samuel Piste is prepared to kill, and Meagher worries that only a divine intervention might stop him.
