An entertaining first novel, dealing with Great Lakes water right and Native American gambling issues. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Great book! Go Blue is a quick read which is funny, enlightning and exciting. This is an important book about the Great Lakes told in a rock-n-roll kind of way. I look forward to the next one. I would compare this author to Grisham and Hiassen.
Gripping, couldn't put it down

This book shows life in its many facets: business - crime and morale, civil courage on environmental issues, insights on American heritage, true love and music. A great combination! A dimension that can be well comprehended in today's world. Go Blue is special among the adventure, crime, love and lifestyle books to be found on the shelves. The only thing I truly missed while reading the book was that the Soundtrack did not come with it.
Go BLue - A Feisty First Novel, A Personal, Piercing Prose

Life is often, as they say, stranger than fiction. What could be stranger than the notion of draining Lake Michigan to fill the cocktail shakers and pools of Las Vegas? One might suspect Mr. Beam's premise for this first novel peers too close to the precipe of the preposterous, but balance is always maintained. The richly detailed characters center the reader in a fictive world gone so greedy for that precious water that a veritable Niagra of cash spills over our villain's imaginations and makes them believe the idea is feasible and absolutely esssential! Mitch, our central character -- though a trained lawyer -- is that classic fish out of water who knows and loves this lake. His voice carries us with poetic grace to secret places along its shores where amidst its geology, flora and fauna, and the history of native peoples whose ancestors lived here for millennia, he stumbles upon a good-old detective yarn that pits the madness of "mall" world against the life of the majestic. Mr. Beam takes no shame in being a romantic who sides with the preservation of his beloved lakes, but he also understands the dark and comic nature of his foes -- as well as that of his friends and lovers. All of whom are deftly portrayed this delightful novel.I look forward to his next.Paul R. Gurian
Go Blue - Comedy/Thriller That Really Flows

What would you say to a proposal to siphon water from the magnificence of Lake Michigan to the insatiably arid lands of Las Vegas?Based on the occasional real-life attempt to divert water from the Great Lakes, Jack Beam shows that there's a median between fact and fiction where the preposterous becomes perilously close to the real. A cross between anything by Hiaasen and A Civil Action, Beam's story comes complete with modest heroes and avaricious halfwits to make a wonderfully entertaining, home-spun read.
A fun read......even for "Fudgies and Leaf-Peepers"

Go blue starts with the premise of using the Great Lakes water supply to help Nevada go green (based on a real life proposal) and entertains you with escapades of lawyers, gamblers, and everybody in-between. From wuthering heights to cross-training moccasins it is a tongue-in-cheek look at that fine line between fiction and reality....and we can all identify with Mitch and/or Laura....especially the really good parts! Long live Rock and Roll. Great first novel Jack!
