After the 2013 Snowden revelations Sir Tim Berners-Lee called for an open source internet Magna Carta. Author Lars Hilse answered this call, and after hundreds of hours of research came up with the first draft of the "Global Internet Magna Carta"; The GLINMACA project for short. The author organised the translation into the globally most spoken languages in order to make it widely accessible to large parts of the world. From thereon a project website was created in a wiki-format for academia and civil rights organisations to assist in the further development of the work he started. It was later postponed due to technical difficulties. 2020 marks the publication of the first paperback version of the Global Internet Magna Carta in order to generate additional funding, and greater exposure for the project.
