This autobiography tells how Glenn Exum formed the Petzoldt-Exum School of American Mountaineering into one of the most respected guide companies in the world. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I was a music student of Mr. Exum for three years at Kellogg High School, Idaho. He didn't make a big deal of it, but would mention as we started each new school year in the fall that he spent his summers in Wyoming teaching people to climb the Tetons. By the time I was his student, he was not young, so I didn't take him very seriously-- until I read this book and learned of his accomplishments. The stories reflect very well the kind of person he was: a talented man always striving for perfection!
For Climbing History Buffs and Lovers of the Tetons

If you love the Tetons of Wyoming or have ever climbed with Exum Guides, then you'll enjoy this book. Filled with wonderful photos from a by-gone period of Teton climbing (when you just tied in around your waist) and funny stories from one of the men who created Teton climbing, this book will make you chuckle and impress you with the simple humor and ease of Glenn Exum. If you're looking for a detailed story of the early years of Teton climbing, this is not the book for you. It gives you a view through Exum's own eyes, but that's pretty interesting. It's worth the cost just for the photos alone.
