I read this book after the subtitle caught my attention: “Seeing God when your vision is gone.” While I figured Ciara’s book might help me narrow down my vision, purpose, or calling, I got way more than I bargained for. This book does a great job of discussing these concepts while also providing clear steps that can be used to help you cut through the fluff and identify what God would have you do. The author does a great job of being honest about her struggles and encouraging believers to do what God is calling them to do in spite of their doubts, fears, or misgivings about what they have to offer. As an overthinker, my tendency is to focus on results/outcome. I worry about what I do and how it will be received. Will it fail or be a success? Will I look stupid? I worry about whether God will come through in the ways I pray He will. This book reminded me not to miss out on the process, to trust that if God called me He has already qualified me, and to focus on enjoying my relationship with God as opposed to focusing on attaining specific outcomes. There were many gems littered throughout. The difference between God and Satan’s voice. How to create/refine your God goal. Different boundaries you’ll need to cultivate to accomplish what God wants you to do. Mind mapping. Ways to step outside of your comfort zone and more. I also appreciated the tables in the back of the book. I learned more about career/intelligence styles and how they may relate to my calling. In all, I’m glad I chose to read this book and have already begun using questions scattered throughout to change the way I journal and spent quiet time with God. I highly recommend you grab a copy (or two!) of this book.
