The trappings of high society are brought to life in this scintillating novel penned by Newberry medalist Cynthia Voigt, whom Kirkus called "a master of pure story." We are none of us what we seem.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I started reading Cynthia Voigt's series about the Tillerman family, but when I was done with those I tried some of her other books. I like just about everything she has written, but I especially enjoy this one. The main character, the butler, is rather funny and surprising. I was a bit surprised about some of what she talks about in the book, but overall it's a great book with a good ending. Some books by her that are also good include: On Fortune's Wheel, The Runner, A Solitary Blue, and that's just a few. She's a great author and any book of hers is one I would recomend!
Hilarious and serious at the same time

This book reads like a Fred Astaire movie. With people changing identities and personas, a hero who you want to dislike, but can't quite, and an ending that completely catches you off guard, it is very entertaining and amusing, with sly little cultural digs slipped in. Definitely fun and well-written, and, I hope, the first of more adult novels for the excellent Cynthia Voigt.
