Giulio Paolini. When Is the Present? is an unprecedented exhibition project divided between the rooms of the Museo Novecento and the Convent of San Marco (18th March - 7th September 2022). The exhibition takes us on a journey through Giulio Paolini's latest reflections on artistic creation and its many implications. Questions about art are combined with questions about existence and its flow. With the refinement that has always distinguished his work, the artist ponders the value of time and our inability to hold on to it, in an investigation that today would appear to be inspired by a deeper examination of the inexorable passing of the days. On this journey, a necessarily individual one despite its universal nature, Paolini draws us into a space riddled with references to the twilight of life and the enigmas that mark our passage on this earth: a journey punctuated by infinite instances where, despite everything, eternity nestles.
