When I read the first original novel of Girlfriends, I thought the characters were a little exaggerated. But this time around, the characters were right on point. I adore the show because it's one of the few realistic shows about black women. One woman is vain with a brain. One is streetwise without being ridiculously ghetto fabulous. One is a control freak but still funny. And the last woman is a free spirit with three degrees, even though she's a bit "easy". Overall they make out to be hilarious, loveable friends with a very energetic male friend that I doubt had male role models. His eccentricities are funny but I wonder about him sometimes. Anyway, the novel was about these five friends visiting New Orleans, encountering flings, voodoo (which I am very afraid of...can't even watch Chucky and I'm grown), witches and hidden thoughts. I'd say it was worth the money. The only part I didn't care for was that it was a repeat of vacation flings and William was yet again whipped. I didn't find the witches very interesting either.
