Deeply Troubled Characters

Girl In Pieces presents the reader with a plethora of deeply troubled characters who’s actions are not excused, but are able to be understood as we uncover the truth about their pasts and internal struggles with mental health, trauma, and addiction. The main character feels extremely alive and tangible. I highly recommend this book for anyone that wants to sob for hours during and after reading it.

blood stain

good book but it came with a giant red stain on it. Knowing the context of this book I think it's blood.

Amazing book, definitely recommend

This book is amazing and had me hooked. It’s sad but also heartwarming

This is a book an adult will enjoy too!

I bought this for a teen neighbor & wanted to read it before I gave it to her BUT now I have to buy another copy because I loved it so much. I love this authors style of writing. I found myself highlighting particular passages. So many gems in this book! I highly recommend it!

Would Not Recommend

I am the outlier- reviews on here and Goodreads shows this book as very beloved. I just couldn't connect with any character and felt like the tone to be a big turn off. The ending was corny and overall this is not something I would recommend. I was very shocked to read the author self harmed herself- to me the pain and desperation didn't translate at all.

Important and Personal

Glasgow addresses some difficult topics concerning mental health and life struggles in this very important book.

It was deep

It was so deep and considered it challenges

amazing book

this book broke me in so many ways. the writing is done beautifully, and it definitely changes you.

Makes me miss the desert

It feels like girl Inturrupted, but alongside with heavy themes, introspection, and characters, it brings a beautiful narrative to the table. There is no romanticization of depression or cutting. Characters are fleshed out, conflicts feel real, and every single scene feels important to the story. It's a book that will make you feel less alone. I loved how the main characters problems were not solved by romance, but instead by her own efforts, and how strongly written every character is. There is beauty in the ugliest crevices of this story. Not a single character is perfect, but every thing wrong with them makes them even more incredible. I'm not sure if Glasgow was at all inspired by Susanna Keysen's work- though it feels that way to me- but if I had to recommend any book about self harm and recovery, it would be this one. If you liked Faking Normal, Girl Inturrupted, or The Art Of Starving, you're BOUND to like this book as well!

Absolutely beautiful and heartfelt

It took me about four days to read this book, it hooks you right in and it moves you towards so many emotions. Reading the ending pages of this book genuinely left me with a happy heart and a huge smile on my face. Charlie's journey is a must-read!

This book explains life so well. So tramatic with so much pain. But you just have to push through an

This books takes you on the ride called life. You just get to see it from another person's view. Something we only thi k of doing and this is the perfect way to get that insight. I never expected this book to steal me away but once I started I never put it down.

My absolute favorite book. I first read it when I was in the hospital I can relate with the character on so many levels. This is one of the only books that truly show how much pain can affect people.

Heartbreakingly beautiful

This book is so beautiful and explains true pain perfectly. There are parts that are absolutely heartbreaking; but they make the book so beautiful and such a quality read.

Beautiful book

Filled with so much sadness and hope, makes you realize how easy our lives may be compared to others. A must have!!
