Prince Henrique the Navigator lived a life of chivalry, dedicated to maritime exploration, fighting the Moors and expanding the Portuguese Empire.Henrique, after planting the Portuguese flag in Ceuta, planned to conquer not only Tangier and all the lands in northwest Africa as far as Cape Bojador. In Sagres he founded a navigational school, a real center of maritime research, which determined the future success of the Portuguese in the discovery and colonization of new lands. Henrique, surrounded by an elite group of mathematicians, astronomers, cosmographers and cartographers, persistently and persistently prepared voyages to uncharted lands.It should be recognized that after the death of Enrique, all the documents belonging to him were transferred to Lisbon and studied by specialists of the royal court.
