My husband bought a copy of this book looking for a good fireside story to share with his boy scout troop. We camp in and live near the Uwharries and I found the stories very well written and entertaining, each with a conclusion that leaves the reader satisfied and not scared to death, not exactly what he was looking for. My daughter (who hates scary storytime by the campfire) has asked me to tell her and read some of the stories to her. All of the stories are interesting and realistic with characters that draw you in to learn a bit of history along with the mystery. A good read.
