Ghost Manifest
A narcotics corridor. A human cargo hidden inside it. A diplomatic cover that runs all the way to the top.
Martin Rowe is a federal officer posted to Beijing, working the Chinese end of a narcotics corridor running out of the Golden Triangle.
Then a tip-off from a Thai port contact leads him to a shipping container that isn't carrying drugs.
Six people are dead inside it.
The discovery takes Rowe into a network that moves people and narcotics through the same logistics channels, protected by the same documentation, the same routes-and the same political interests.
The deeper he goes, the worse the picture becomes.
The corridor isn't merely protected by corruption. It is being protected because exposing it could disrupt an international trade negotiation that neither Canberra nor Beijing can afford to see fail.
Rowe is ordered to stand down.
Then he is pushed out.
Without his badge, his authority or the protection of his government, he continues following the trail-and discovers that the people protecting the corridor have resources that reach far beyond the criminal networks he was sent to investigate.
What began as a container of dead migrants has become something much larger:
a conspiracy in which organised crime, international commerce and government policy have become impossible to separate.
And Rowe is now the one thing the people behind it cannot control.
Ghost Manifest is an international crime and espionage thriller about trafficking, geopolitics and the price of exposing a system that powerful people need to remain invisible.
For readers of Daniel Silva, Mick Herron, Robert Harris and international political thrillers.
