True ghost stories

Leslie Rule's fourth book relating true cases of hauntings is a compelling read. I don't read much non fiction but when I do, this is exactly the kind of book I like to seek my teeth into. At first, I was skeptical about the subject of ghosts in mirrors; how many stories of a ghost in the mirror can you put in a book before it becomes tedious? The author proved me wrong with her chronicling of a diverse selection of real cases of spirit encounters. It made for a spooky and sometimes uplifting read. Leslie Rule's writing style makes it easy to turn the pages and I found myself chomping through the book furiously, chapter after chapter. She covers it all, from all across the US, exploring hauntings through the eyes of children, in hospitals, on the road, in windows, in places of business, hotels and in her own home. I've always believed in ghosts and although I've never actually seen or heard one, I've felt their presence on a few occasions when I was a child. Reading about all these accounts just reaffirmed that the dead do sometimes linger here on earth among us. None of the cases are embellished or rendered scarier; Rule sticks to the facts. There are very few cases of poltergeists as most ghosts tend to be satisfied to merely amble about, rarely manifesting themselves for more than a few seconds. Some of the ghosts in this book are just flat out terrifying and reading about them gave me gooseflesh. It was also uplifting to read about some people's encounters with specters of their kin assuring them that everything was fine. The warmth radiated through the pages in these instances. The author also documents cases where ghosts don't even know that they are dead. Ghost in the Mirror is also filled with pictures of haunted locations and people who have encountered spirits. Whether you're fascinated by ghosts and paranormal phenomena or just looking for realistic accounts of ghostly encounters, Ghost in the Mirror is worth your time. The author has done a good deal of research to put this book together and it shows. A highly recommended read. Alan Draven, Author of Bitternest Editor of Sinister Landscapes

Great bunch of ghost stories!

I have tried reading numerous books on hauntings and ghosts, but never enjoyed any as much as I enjoyed Leslie Rule's "Ghost in the Mirror: Real Cases of SPirit Encounters". Unlike many of the other books I have read on the subject, "Ghost" is written in a conversational style. As you read, you feel like you might be watching a television program, or chatting with your friends about ghost stories. In comparison, many other books are extremely dry, overly researched, and just flat out boring. This book was anything but boring. Starting with the foreward, which I almost never read, the book had my attention. The forward is written by Ann Rule, Leslie's mother, and was very intriguing. The introduction by Leslie is also intriguing and makes you excited to read the book. The chapters were organized first by telling a ghost story involving mirrors, and then seamlessly blended in other ghost stories throughout the chapters. This is a perfect book to read if you only a have a little bit of time here and there (or for bathroom reading) as most of the ghost stories are only a page or two. Leslie Rule does research to enhance the ghost stories, but this never feels like a burden to read - it always feel like you are just getting more interesting backstory into the ghosts that she is talking about. I went into reading this book thinking it would be dry, boring, and about like all of the other books I have read on hauntings. Instead, I found it to be very readable, interesting, and scary. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good scare, likes ghosts stories, or just wants to get in the mood for Halloween. I couldn't be happier that I found such a great book of ghost stories and I plan to seek out Leslie Rule's other ghost books as this one was so much fun.

Riveting Book!

I am fascinated by Leslie Rules latest book, and appreciate the time and research she has put into this. What a remarkable book, and so downright bone chilling at times! Reading her latest book actually got me thinking of what have been ghostly encounters in my own life. I have read all of Leslie's books, and am a huge admirerer of her work. I have to read straight through! I am so thankful for creative people such as Leslie Rule, and will continue to read her books with delight.

Another GREAT Read by Leslie Rule

I have purchased all of Leslie's prior books and enjoyed them all, and this one was no different. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down until I was done. If you enjoy reading about ghosts and the paranormal, this book is for you! If you are a new to Leslie Rule, I suggest you also pick up her other books for some bedtime reading :)

I have been anxiously waiting for this latest book by Leslie Rule and I was not disappointed!
