Book Overview

In Geysers: What They Are and How They Work, T. Scott Bryan explains the geological setting that produces the pressure, heat, and abundant water necessary for a geyser to form and introduces readers to the variables that shape each geysers distinct personality. Some geysers spout just inches above a pool of water and others blast hundreds of feet in the air from conical vents. Some remain quiet for decades only to explode unexpectedly...

geysers - a study in geology

This little book has a wealth of information along with some absolutely gorgeous pictures. It is easy to read, and I use it as a reference book. If you just want some serenity in your busy schedule, just look at the pictures, so calming. I needed this book a couple years ago for one of my college courses - Geology of the National Parks, which was an awesome course in itself.

One of the Best Geyser Books Written

The author of this book was a ranger at Yellowstone and taught geology at the college level in California. This is a superb book about how geysers and hot springs work in general. While it is written for the younger set, it is also a very good book for adults. If you have any interest in geysers, buy this book. The fantastic pictures alone are well worth the price.
