I loved Getting To Howard. The events described in the book are funny, entertaining, amusing, witty, scary, enlightening, fascinating, and downright amazing? Sorry, but I'm running out of superlatives, and laxatives! -- LOL! The photos are great, too. Of course any book about Howard Stern is bound to generate controversy and attract jealous, mean-spirited party-poopers as evidenced by the one or two negative reviews on this web site. Anyway, take it from me, Ivan Ivanovich, Getting To Howard is a great f-ing book and well worth the measly price. My favorite chapter was "Happy Birthday, Howard!" (Wagner tells the tale of how he crashed Stern's last Birthday Party.) Oh yeah, the gold-stamping underneath the dust jacket is the funniest thing I've ever seen. (I won't spoil the surprise by spilling the beans.) One last comment -- F-JACKIE!

Exceptional writing from a common man (no offense Mr Wagner)

As a longtime fan of Howards, after seeing and wondering how these kooks and characters get on the phones/show...Dans somewhat personal adventures hit home with many listeners I'm sure. Sitting around at 6;30 am wondering how you can get to talk to howard or meet him, he's done it! You also have to laugh and enjoy the behind the scenes info on some of Howards weirdest showpieces like crackhead bob, kenneth keith, elephant boy, and king of all losers Melrose Larry Green. I loved the book and was sad to finish, Dan is a witty guy with great writing/word skills. ALot of us probably want to write a book on Howard or our favorite celeb, but he actually did it. Prince of Puns scams the King of all media

This book is a brilliant piece of sycophancy taken to the tenth degree. Dan Wagner's obsessive memoir about his pursuit of pulling pranks on the King of All Media is quite funny. For all you Stern Follower fans, there are profiles of some of the more wacky Stern Characters. Crackhead Bob and Elephant Boy are just some of the folks who truly get thier due in this book. This book is also a brilliant satire on the state of celebrity fandom. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a laugh, or at the very least, learn how to properly run a scam on someone.

Great Book!

I thought Getting to Howard was just going to be a picture book with some short explanations of what the pictures were. Well, I was wrong. What it turned out to be is a very well written and entertaining book about how the author worked his way into the Howard Stern domain. It takes something pretty entertaining to keep me interested and this book did it. The first chapter explains how Dan got addicted to hearing his faxes read on the air by Howard and Robin. I could relate to this since I did the same thing a few years back. The only thing is that Dan took it many steps further than I ever did. Other chapters in the book tell how Dan tried to get near Howard himself. He went to one of Howard's book signings, entered contests and came up with schemes to fool Howard. He even gave Howard an Emmy Award to get on the show. Dan must have taken some pretty intense notes right from the first fax because he has all the dates and times for most of his actions. It kept me interested right through the last page of the book and that's saying a lot. Other interesting things in the book include Dan's day with Fred the Elephant Boy, a day with Kenneth Keith Kallenbach and his girlfriend, meeting Fred Norris and meeting Jackie. And finally learn how Dan made it into Howard's birthday show.

GETTING TO HOWARD RULES!

I loved it. Cool photos. Funny, entertaining, amazing, wow
