10 step-by-step hands-on tutorials that cover most of the things a beginner needs to know. Kelby writes with wit and precision and a picture appears with every step. I highly recommend this book for beginners, but I would also suggest you buy a more complete reference book for Tiger (Pogue or Williams). I give it only 4 stars for lessons it leaves out. He promises to show you how to quit an application, but he doesn't (perhaps to "taunt and ridicule" beginners). Shutting down the Mac is only covered in the PowerBook tutorial. The close window button isn't mentioned until p.122 with a window with a greyed out button. Minor flaws (buy with another book) in a great set of lessons.
